Growing up, my nickname was BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). I grew up in the 90s in Baluchestan, also known as southwestern Afghanistan and southeastern Iran. I would spend hours sitting next to my father as he listened to BBC radio in Persian. Sometimes my father would also listen to the English version of the news, but I only started speaking English at the age of 16 when I came to Australia. So back then, the Persian version of BBC was what sparked my curiosity, enough for me to voluntarily recount the news to friends and families, despite their lack of interest.
So it wasn’t an accident that many years later I decided to study and work in the media industry. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a storyteller for TV, film and online and I have come across some of the most amazing people in the world. I’m lucky to be the facilitator who helps people tell their own stories.
Depending on what the story demands sometimes I write, sometimes I produce (pre, field, post), sometimes I interview, sometimes I film, sometimes I take photos and sometimes I hide for hours in an edit suite perfecting a story frame by frame. And then there are times when I work on a project and I do all of the above.
I also have a love for film photography, which you can see some examples of here.
I hope this website gives you a snapshot of what I’m trying to do with my life.
